Aberdeen and North - Tue, 07 Aug, 2012

Aberdeen and North - Tue, 07 Aug, 2012 Tube. Duration : 19.68 Mins.

Students across Scotland have received their exam results - with record numbers passing Highers. An increased number of pupils also passed Advanced Highers and Standard Grades. This means that more university and college applicants have been accepted into their first-choice institution this year. The Scottish Qualifications Authority says the improved results are all down to hard work. In other news; the jury at a murder trial has seen shocking video footage of the elderly victim lying dead in the kitchen of her Perthshire home. It is alleged that 80 year-old Jenny Methven was bludgeoned to death by 46 year-old William Kean in February. He has blamed Mrs Methven's son for the killing. He also denies cutting his hands to prevent police taking his fingerprints. And in sport; SPL new boys Ross County can't wait for their next top flight match at Pittodrie after scaring Champions' League Motherwell on Saturday.
