Glasgow and West - Mon, 23 Jul, 2012

Glasgow and West - Mon, 23 Jul, 2012 Tube. Duration : 24.05 Mins.

A murder trial jury has been shown horrific photographs of a man whose burnt body was discovered on a path beside the River Clyde in Glasgow last September. Three men have been accused of murdering Brian Faulds, then setting his body on fire in an attempt to conceal their crime. The jury heard that the man who found the corpse had to be treated in hospital for shock. Commonwealth games organisers admit they can't prevent G4S bidding to be involved in 2014. The security firm has been heavily criticised after failing to deliver on its commitment to provide staff for the London Olympics. Officials in Glasgow believe it's likely the company will apply for contracts at the Commonwealth Games - but insist its track record could prevent any involvement. And in other news, it's feared the cost of going green could leave householders out of pocket. Consumers groups and environmental campaigners say a report by MPS shows the UK Government's proposals on renewable energy are unworkable and could cost us more money. As Scotland aims to reach ambitious targets on generating renewable energy, there's concern tonight that could be severely dented as politicians say the current plans could deter investors. In sport, Sir Chris Hoy has been confirmed as Team GB's flag bearer for the opening ceremony of London 2012 on Friday.
